A child, living in poverty and dealing with an abusive stepfather, strikes a frienship with a little girl in the neighborhood who lives a much more comfortable life. Her father, however, is not happy with this friendship and wants his family to have nothing to do with the little boy and his family. Now the girl's father is pitted against his own wife and the whole situation threatens to tear their family apart.
